Drill Bit Sticks are a combination of friction reducers and low foaming surfactants specifically designed for drilling. This combination allows for an increased rate of penetration while also optimizing mud and cutting returns to the surface. Drill Bit Sticks will work in the presence of both salt and fresh water systems.
Drill Bit Sticks are primarily recommended for use to increase the drilling efficiency and life of the drill bits. The slick coating and foaming action prevents the clays from sticking and balling up on the drill bit while drilling. This same slick coating and foaming action will also help prevent the jets on the drill bit from plugging. Drill Bit Sticks can be used to remove fluid from gas-condensate wells, however Select Industries has a broad range of sticks specifically designed for this procedure.
The number of Drill Bit Sticks to be used varies from one drilling operation to another. The weight of mud, drilling depth and water weight can also affect the number of sticks to be dropped. Field tests indicate that the best results were achieved under normal drilling operations when dropping 2-4 sticks per stand of pipe.
